I really never thought I would get here in a healthy, sustainable way. After those first two times my body was so ravenous that I couldn’t stand it. It was a losing battle from the beginning. Once I hit that low weight it would just keep rising and rising no matter what I did. I’d exercise like a madwoman – up to 6 hours a day – eat less, follow a bodybuilder diet and nothing. I was fighting my body.
Now my body and I are on the same page. This weight has been coming off slowly on the scale, but large changes are happening to my body. I’ve been able to wear pants I wasn’t even able to get over my thighs at the beginning of this journey. Shorts that I was dreaming of getting into again are now too loose for even a belt to save. My face doesn’t look bloated and weird with short hair like I thought it would when I was fatter :). So much has changed this year and for once it’s sustainable – a lifestyle change (as cliche as that is). I don’t miss beer, bread or even my my previous favorite foods of pasta or ice cream. Discovering butter, cheese and mayo are way better. I’m excited to see where this journey takes me.
