The Month Of Argentina: November 2022 Recap

As the title suggests, I spent this month in Argentina! It’s the farthest south I’ve ever been in the world. As a comparison, Buenos Aires has a similar longitude to Sydney, Australia as well as Auckland, New Zealand and Cape Town, South Africa. The Month Of Acadia: October 2022 Recap

I feel like every monthly recap begins with me not understanding how time is passing so quickly…and I will not be breaking that streak today 🙂 . How is 2022 80% over?!? My brain cannot comprehend it. Well, another month is done, I experienced fall, and enjoyed some season-appropriate adventures. Let’s see what I got up to!

I Recorded What I Did Every Hour For 2 Years Of Retirement: Here’s What Retirees Do All Day!

This weird experiment continues 🙂 . Last year I mentioned that I accidentally recorded everything I did in 1 hour increments for my whole first year of retirement. Originally this was because I was curious to see what I got up to with unlimited time, and later I found it so useful that I just kept doing it. The Month Of Maine: September 2022 Recap

And just like that, it was fall 🙂 . I always thought of myself as a summer girl, but given that I can soak up all of the lessening hours of sunlight instead of dreamily looking at them outside my office window, I’m coming around to this season. It’s definitely more pleasant to run in, I’m enjoying the warmth of tea in my belly and a fluffy blanket on my lap when I (inevitably) read a book in one sitting. Consider me a changed woman 🙂 . So, let’s see what I got up to during this first month of fall!

Let’s get into it! Continue reading “2 Years Of Early Retirement: Finances, What’s Changed And What’s Next?”

How I Stay Organized While Enjoying Life

I’ve encountered a problem in retirement that I never had while working. Maybe I’m alone in this, but when I was working, I was ALWAYS aware of my calendar – I would look at it every few minutes it seems, to know what meeting I needed to prep for next during a work day. I would also glance at it often to make sure I knew what social appointments I had on a weekend and – more depressingly – how much time I had before I had to return to work 🙂 . The Month Of New Hampshire: August 2022 Recap

2022 continues to pass by with the speed of a bullet train. I guess I’m having too much fun 😉 . This month we continued our exploration of the northeast – we like to come here in the summer if possible since it’s cooler than other parts of the country. We started by saying “hi!” to family in New York State and then moved further east. So let’s see what I got up to!

How My Definition Of ‘Optimal’ Has Changed In Retirement

When working towards FIRE, I at times thought that any money that wasn’t optimized was wasted because it didn’t go towards my end goal. For example, if I bought a plane ticket and the next day (for some reason) the cost of that ticket dropped 20%, I thought my decision was suboptimal.
