I’ve done it. Previously my longest streaks of weight loss were 3-6 months. The only time I went 6 months the last 3 months included a scale yo-yo while I fought my body’s starvation instincts. I lost maybe 5 lbs in those last 3 months.
2017 Accomplishments
The last few years I’ve started to record my accomplishments throughout the year. Time seems to pass fairly quickly and without documenting it I have a hard time remembering what was different from one year to the next, what progress was made and how I’m advancing as a person. So let’s dive into some of the things that made 2017 unique! Continue reading “2017 Accomplishments”

Frugal Mini Travel: Camping
We recently added a new hobby to our permanent repertoire. The stereotype of a Seattleite is a crunchy, liberal, outdoors person…and I must admit that’s pretty much accurate 🙂 . In Manhattan weekend activities included going to bars, going to bottomless mimosa brunch and complaining about your week. It was a bit of culture shock when we moved to Seattle because weekends are completely different. Continue reading “Frugal Mini Travel: Camping”
Life Philosophy: No Responsibilities
My partner and I have a kind of mantra. At random moments we’ll yell “No marriage! No kids! No pets!” and high five. Part of our life philosophy is “No responsibilities.” I’m not sure where this came from exactly, but I’m so glad we’re on the same page. Getting Swol
During my failed no drinking month I decided to start exercising at home. When I first moved to Seattle I would walk 1.5 miles to work and 1.5 miles home (which included a few large hills). Since I started working from home my walking has decreased greatly and I wanted to offset my lack of exercise. I felt like a bit of a lump, especially with the weather getting colder I’ve really settled into my hibernation instincts. Continue reading “Getting Swol”
5 Years and Changing Perspectives
My Mom has been going through old emails to paint a picture of all the places we’ve traveled together. During her investigation she stumbled across an absolutely hilarious email I sent her 5 years ago. It was a response to an email she sent me with a link to an article about the different ways to retire early. Let’s see what my response was 5 years ago: Continue reading “5 Years and Changing Perspectives”
Buying A Kindle For 50% Off
I’ve been playing with the idea of owning a Kindle for over a year now. I vacillated between thinking it would be a helpful addition to my life and thinking it was too much for what it adds ($80). Currently I read on my phone or computer depending on where I am. I prefer actual books, but find them unrealistic to bring on a lot of travels. I also love the wonder of library eBooks that allow me to read anything without leaving my home (Laziness FTW?) Continue reading “Buying A Kindle For 50% Off”
