The Best Breweries I Visited In Sacramento, CA

A lot of things have surprised me since I landed in Sacramento at the beginning of April. One of which was that not many people talk about this amazing city. Another one was that it has 50 breweries. For a city that only has 500,000 people and that I can walk across in an hour, I find that very impressive πŸ™‚ .

So for all of you, I took up the very difficult challenge to check out as many breweries in Sacramento as I could πŸ˜‰ .Β  Just kidding – I did it for myself. I love new experiences and breweries are in my top 10. There’s something so interesting about the unique flavors and atmospheres that each place can create. I also LOVE that they usually offer tasting flights – it’s my ideal way of eating or drinking. I always want to try a little of EVERYTHING and this is one of the few situations where that’s easy to do πŸ™‚ .

So here are the best breweries of the sampling I was able to visit while in Sacramento. I am only one person with limited time and bladder space so I didn’t go to all 50 and this is not at all a comprehensive list, but just a shout out to some breweries that I loved. Let’s get into it.

Alaro Brewing

Cost: $12 for 4 beer flight

In addition to that, Alaro had great service and a lovely indoor and outdoor space. The space also allows customers to see the brewing tanks near the back of the building, which I always enjoy πŸ™‚ . The Spanish inspired food menu is yummy and generally you can’t go wrong with this place.

Fieldwork Brewing

Cost: $18 for 6 beer flight

Fieldwork is a wonderfully unique brewery. I’ve never seen giant glasses of 6 beer flights before – and now know to be careful because they pack a punch πŸ™‚ . I loved their indoor and outdoor spaces as well as their options of building your own flight or picking a pre-made one based on tastes. The staff was lovely and I just love feeling like I’m holding a goblet of beer to be honest πŸ™‚ .

However, this is the largest beer flight (both in size of board and glasses) that I’ve ever seen, so be sure to send your most graceful friend to pick it up if you’re ordering at the bar. I am not at all graceful and was very grateful that the bartender decided to bring this flight to me πŸ™‚ .

Golden Road Brewing

Cost: $12.50 for this 4 beer flight

Given all of the above, Golden Road is someplace I would be happy to hang out. They have so many different seating, food and beverage options that everything is covered. The staff was also, once again, lovely and I really enjoyed that the entire place is outdoors. Perfect for a pretty day.

Urban Roots Brewing

Cost: $15 for this 6 beer flight

Offering 6 beer flights for various prices based on the price of the beer makes total sense, but pay attention to the prices on each beer because apparently I have fancy taste and chose most of the pricier options. My flight came out to about $15, which isn’t bad for 6 but is something I wanted to call out. I also paid $9 for that delicious large Mac N Cheese and $9.50 for Brisket. It was a delicious time all around πŸ™‚ .

Bike Dog Brewing

Cost: $11 for 4 beer flights

In addition to that, I just have to call out the helpful staff once again. They noticed I was getting individual pours and rang it up as a flight to help me save a few cents and that’s the kind of non-sketchy service I appreciate πŸ™‚ .

At Ease Brewing

Cost: $12 for 4 beer flights

In addition to all that, I have to give extra points for branding and flight presentation. The flights are called “sorties” and everything has a military theme. I didn’t know I was a sucker for a theme, but here we are. In addition, the sturdy wood and rope that were used to make these flight boards gets my “best flight construction” award that I just made up πŸ™‚ . Great job y’all.

Conclusion

And that is a very serious list of the best breweries of Sacramento…jk πŸ™‚ . I really enjoyed these breweries and exploring as many as I could around Sacramento, California. Even just walking to them was an experience and a wonderful way to see as much of the city as I could. I hope this list helps if you’re ever visiting and looking for a fun sip!

What are your favorite tasting menus?

  1. great experience!

I don’t drink beer even I tasted several in my life (from my husband’s glasses, of course)

    1. Interesting – I haven’t been to Asheville since I hit drinking age πŸ™‚ . Thank you for the suggestion.

  2. What a fantastic way to explore a city! I love me a gose/sour beer, and there are loads listed in this overview. Beer flights are fab, so nice to try different beers without committing to a full pint. Something about a bowl of mac and cheese next to an unadorned slab of beef strikes me as ridiculously funny. I can picture someone placing all that in front of you with a curt, “Beer. Food. Enjoy,” then walking away. I can believe it was delicious though, that kind of stuff always is.

This is quite a number of places, Purple; you clearly put in a lot of hard work and effort πŸ˜‰

    1. Yeah it was surprisingly super helpful since the breweries were all over, which helped me walk the entire city. And yesss I love sour beer too and tried all the ones I saw on the flight menus πŸ™‚ . Haha I thought it looked pretty normal (mac n cheese + meat), but maybe that’s my southerner showing. They were actually really nice when giving me my meal lol. And yes I worked very hard, thank you πŸ˜‰ .

  3. Thanks so much for the reviews! So happy you made to some personal favorites, and excited to put a few on our ‘to try’ list. Can’t wait for the slow travel review of Sacramento overall!

    1. Of course! I sadly didn’t get to all of your recommendations, but that’s what the next visit is for πŸ™‚ . I hope you liked the Slow Travel Review!
