I’m about to wax poetic about a piece of luggage of all things, but that’s what I want to do today so strap in! After 5 years of using a $21 40L Foldable Backpack and a free Vanguard Tote, I upgraded my travel luggage. Why? Several not fun reasons 🙂 – basically: Old age, injuries and jealously🤣. Medical Tourism: A $69 Dental Cleaning In La Paz, México
As I’ve mentioned, I’m in the ACA Marketplace and have dental insurance in the US. However, the fact that US medical care can be straight up garbage continues to lead me to often using medical tourism and paying out of pocket instead. Here’s my latest adventure wading through medical care.

The Month Of México: January 2026 Recap
Damn Time – can you slow down for a hot second 🙂 ? I’d appreciate it.
Somehow the first month of 2026 is over before I’ve gotten used to writing 2026. I spent the month living up to my new Snowbird status and heading to the sunny beaches of México and escaping the snowstorms of the northeast US.
I’m currently writing this while watching dolphins frolic off the coast of La Paz in Baja California Sur. I think snowbirds might be on to something 😉 . So let’s see what I got up to in January!

The Year Of Settling Down(ish): 2025 Goals & Accomplishments
Throughout the year, I like to jot down new things I’ve learned, read, watched and experienced to try and remember what each year entailed. I then summarize all of that in my annual goals and accomplishments posts.
The goal of these posts is not just to curate what I’ve been up to, but also to document how I’ve changed from one year to the next and how I’ve grown as a person. I also like to give each year a theme in retrospect.
I wasn’t sure what this year’s theme would be but upon reflection, it became clear 🙂 . I’ve decided that 2025 has been The Year Of Settling Down(ish).

Am I Burned Out From Travel Planning?
Something weird happened the other day that I want to talk about. As you probably know, from mid-2020 to mid-2025 I was a full-time traveler.
I didn’t have a homebase and moved across the US and the world every month. It was a lovely lifestyle that I really enjoyed because I was able to both settle into a location, and feel like a local with “my” coffee shop where people know me and my local chippy or grocery store.
How I Planned A Trip To Circumnavigate Iceland In 7 Days
In 2024 I took on my greatest travel challenge since quitting in 2020 and becoming a full-time nomad who moved every month. And that was planning a trip to circumnavigate Iceland in 7 days. Let’s see how I did it! Continue reading “How I Planned A Trip To Circumnavigate Iceland In 7 Days”
